Yes you read it correct Tungsten is the material which is used in The bulb for very long period of time. Now the LEDs has take it over but the question wasn't that... So lets jump directly to it only that why..why..? Only Tungsten! The Answer Of this is quite simple "Tungsten is a metal and it has very high Melting Point as well as it has High Resistance too" which makes it better and good to use in Bulbs for Long. According to you what should be the Melting Point of tungsten??? So it's nearly about 3380°C which is too much for any metal.. This was all about the Tungsten. Thankyou For Giving Your Precious Time.
